What I Handle in Salt Lake City
Here’s how I handle the main jobs.
Broken springs. When a spring goes, most of the time the door won’t open at all. On a two-car door I replace both springs, since they’re rated by cycles.
Doors off track. I’ll check whether it’s a straight realignment or the panel underneath is bent, and tell you which before I start.
Openers that quit. I repair LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie and Marantec, and I install all the major brands when a new opener makes more sense.
New doors. I install all the major brands.
If one of these sounds like your door, call me at (801) 682-7586.
Emergency Garage Door Repair Across Salt Lake City
A door stuck open or stuck shut is an emergency, and so is a crashed door that has to be secured. Emergency calls after hours come straight to me. If your door won’t close, give me a call at (801) 682-7586.

When Replacement Makes More Sense Than Repair
I’d rather fix a door than sell you a new one, and most of the time the repair is the right call. When a door’s old and worn out, though, I’ll tell you plainly it’s time for a new one.
- I install insulated doors at whatever R-value fits how you use the garage.
- I install full-view aluminum and glass doors too.
- An opener is a separate purchase, with a small discount when you buy it with a door.
- I’m an authorized dealer for Clopay, Amarr, Wayne Dalton, Hormann and Martin.
Every install is backed by warranty, and the terms are on my warranty page.
Garage Door Services I Offer
I install and repair garage doors for homes and businesses across Salt Lake County, southern Davis County and Park City. Every job comes with a tune-up. I tighten loose bolts, lube the moving parts and adjust the springs if they need it, then inspect the whole door so you know its full condition. I’m licensed and insured, and the work is warranty-backed.

Replacing a Garage Door in a Historic District
Salt Lake City has nine local historic districts, among them the Avenues, Capitol Hill, Yalecrest and University. If your home is in one, the city has to approve exterior changes with a Certificate of Appropriateness before work starts, and that application is yours to file.
In my experience, a door in the same style as the one you have hasn’t been an issue, but the city’s rule covers any exterior change, so it’s worth checking before you order.
If your home’s in one of those districts and you’re weighing a new door, I’m at (801) 682-7586 and happy to go over the options.

Garage Door Notes for Salt Lake City Homeowners
I diagnose the door before I replace anything. Most parts are already on the truck, so most jobs get finished the same day I’m out.
Between about 5 and 15 years, a bad part is usually just a bad part and swapping it is the cheaper move. Close to 20 years and failing, a new opener makes more sense.
If you’re replacing an old wood door with steel, check that the quote lists new springs and track. A wood door is heavier than the steel one going in, so the springs usually have to be swapped, and most places charge extra to haul the wood door away.
A small dent on the face of a panel is cosmetic. A dent at the edge or a joint can cause damage over time, since the panel sags while the door’s open and lying flat. That doesn’t always mean replacing it. A strut on the panel usually reinforces it and keeps it from bending further.
If the door won’t go down and the opener’s blinking, start with the photo eyes near the floor. On a LiftMaster, the green light is the one that matters: solid means they’re connecting, blinking means they’re not. Usually something’s in the path or a sensor got bumped.
There’s no such thing as an upgraded drum or cable on a residential door. The parts come from the same suppliers across the board, so if someone’s selling you that upgrade, it’s an upsell.
A lot of the noise from an old opener is a tired motor, so even a new chain drive is a big improvement. For real quiet, especially with a bedroom over the garage, go with a belt drive. Whatever noise is left after that is the door itself, so it’s worth checking the rollers and bearings the same visit.
