Emergency Garage Door Repair in Draper
A door stuck open or stuck shut is an emergency, and so is a crashed door that has to be secured. Emergency calls after hours come straight to me. If your door won’t close, give me a call at (801) 682-7586.

When Replacement Makes More Sense Than Repair
I’d rather fix a door than sell you a new one, and most of the time the repair is the right call. When a door’s old and worn out, though, I’ll tell you plainly it’s time for a new garage door.
I install insulated doors at whatever R-value fits how you use the garage, and full-view aluminum and glass doors too. An opener is a separate purchase, with a small discount when you buy it with a door. I’m an authorized dealer for Clopay, Amarr, Wayne Dalton, Hormann and Martin.
Every install is backed by warranty, and the terms are on my warranty page.
Garage Door Services I Offer
I install and repair garage doors for homes and businesses across Salt Lake County, southern Davis County and Park City. Every job comes with a tune-up. I tighten loose bolts, lube the moving parts and adjust the springs if they need it, then inspect the whole door so you know its full condition. I’m licensed and insured, and the work is warranty-backed.

Replacing a Garage Door in SunCrest
SunCrest’s design guidelines say garage doors are sectional roll-up doors only, in wood, manufactured wood or metal, painted or stained to match the home. For exterior colors, they encourage earth tones and don’t allow bright or pastel colors.
SunCrest’s Design Review Board has to approve an application before any exterior project starts, and you file that application. If the board hasn’t answered, that doesn’t count as a yes. In my experience, a door in the same style as the one you have hasn’t been an issue, but the guidelines say any exterior project goes to the board, so it’s worth checking before you order.
Edelweiss, a neighborhood in Draper, has stricter rules of its own. Metal doors have to come factory-finished to match the home, and painting them isn’t allowed. Its guidelines list Wayne Dalton pre-finished doors in white, taupe, almond and brown.
If you’re thinking about a new door up there, call me at (801) 682-7586 and I’m happy to go over the options.

Garage Door Notes for Draper Homeowners
I diagnose the door before I replace anything. Most parts are already on the truck, so most jobs get finished the same day I’m out.
A small dent on the face of a panel is cosmetic. A dent at the edge or a joint can cause damage over time, since the panel sags while the door’s open and lying flat. That doesn’t always mean replacing it. A strut on the panel usually reinforces it and keeps it from bending further.
If someone quotes you 50,000-cycle springs, I’d question it. By my math those springs would have to be over 4 feet long each. I can give you the exact spring measurements for each cycle rating so you can check with whoever quoted you.
If you’re replacing an old wood door with steel, check that the quote lists new springs and track. A wood door is heavier than the steel one going in, so the springs usually have to be swapped, and most places charge extra to haul the wood door away.
A lot of the noise from an old opener is a tired motor, so even a new chain drive is a big improvement. For real quiet, especially with a bedroom over the garage, go with a belt drive. Whatever noise is left after that is the door itself, so it’s worth checking the rollers and bearings the same visit.
Between about 5 and 15 years, a bad part is usually just a bad part and swapping it is the cheaper move. Close to 20 years and failing, a new opener makes more sense.
I don’t usually recommend a floor threshold, since in most cases it fights the bottom seal that’s already there. A seal in good shape handles most floors, so the real question is whether the seal’s shot or the concrete isn’t level.
